In honor of Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month this May, the Grand Rapids Public Library (GRPL) is offering a series of events to celebrate and explore the vibrant cultures of the local Asian American & Pacific Islander community. 

The events are open to the public at no charge and are designed for all ages, with a special focus on interactive experiences, performances, and discussions.

From K-pop fandoms to Polynesian dance, and even a candid discussion about mental health in the Asian American & Pacific Islander community, Grand Rapids Public Library encourages you to be a part of these events.

Fountain Street Church Memorial Concert (click for more info)
Fountain Street Church presents their annual Memorial Concert, "Requiem -- A Plea for Humanity,"  on Saturday, May 3 at 7:30 PM at Fountain St. Church. 

The program includes a new edition of the iconic Mozart Requiem and will end at the point where Mozart himself died. The second half of the concert focuses on the voices of the underrepresented -- Indigenous Americans, immigrants, and unarmed African American men killed by authority figures.
 
Fountain Street's choir will be joined by the Aquinas College choirs and members of the community, including the Catholic Central High School Choir.

A new showcase exhibit, Casting Light: Photographs of the Vietnam War opens at the Ford Museum on April 21 and uses iconic photographs from American photojournalists to capture how presidents and the American public grappled with the reality of the conflict.
