The Grand River Folk Arts Society is a local nonprofit whose mission is to enrich lives and foster community through traditional music, dance, and song. 

Saturday, May 10th, the Grand River Folk Arts Society presents singer and songwriter Anne Hills at the "Wealthy Theatre Annex", 2 doors west of the Wealthy Theatre. Doors open at 6:30pm.

Friday, May 16, there's a contradance, with live caller and the band Gooder'n'Grits, at St. Adalbert's Hall,  701 5th St. NW, corner of Davis. Beginners are always welcome! Lessons start at 7 PM.

2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the end of U.S. involvement in Vietnam.

A new showcase exhibit, Casting Light: Photographs of the Vietnam War opens at the Ford Museum on April 21 and uses iconic photographs from American photojournalists to capture how presidents and the American public grappled with the reality of the conflict.

The YWCA West Central Michigan is a social justice organization with more than 100 years of experience providing service to, and advocating on behalf of the most vulnerable people in our community. 

The YWCA is the only provider of comprehensive domestic and sexual violence services to child and adult survivors in Kent County. 

In any given year, the YWCA, provides services to more than 4,000 individual survivors and family members, and responds to over 2,700 crisis calls related to domestic violence and sexual assault.

GR Parks & Rec - Summer Classes (click for more info)
The City of Grand Rapids is hosting its tenth annual summer of free outdoor fitness in parks and public spaces across the city. 

The 16 fitness classes will run weekly from May 12 to Aug. 22.

Classes will be held weekly, Monday through Friday. They are free of charge, and no registration is required.
